the president of university of balamand dr. elias warrak expresses his views on the importance of the initiatives taken by the iaaf in empowering the lebanese youth and drawing pathways for them to benefit all our communities.

the main anticipated event that was attended by dr. elias warrak, the president of the university, mrs inas al jarmakani, member of parliament dr. fadi karam and minister of state for women affairs mr. jean oghasapian.

students, faculty members and heads of the university of balamand as well as the media attended the main event that is rooted in mrs. inas al jarmakani’s strong support and belief in the power of education and perseverance.

the group of winners of the $10,000 grand award for the most creative and feasible idea with their trophy and the members of the jury.

mrs. inas al jarmakani states: “‘aim for the moon and if you fall, you fall on a star’ but i say aim for the sun and if you fall, you’ll fall on the moon”

the winning project “clean2o” being demonstrated to the highly esteemed members of the jury at the university of balamand.

the winning project by mohammad ziad fakhredddine, maher madi and ramzi abou khalil titled “clean 2o” demonstrated an affordable device that filters river and source water. this prize will allow them to transform their ideas into actual projects that could benefit a large number of people within the lebanese country and around the world.

The University of Balamand was one of the many universities that participated in IAAF Awards competition. This event marks the first collaboration between the University of Balamand and the IAAF and it surely proved to be a fruitful and successful one.
